Company Profile AFMInc produces reflective insulation products that harness energy sources like body or solar heat. Our products and solutions share a common technology, based on material developed by NASA for the US space program, and include Heatsheets® for hypothermia protection at mass participation events, sleeping bags and shelters for lightweight protection from outdoor elements, and Silver Lining™ lightweight fabric.
Heatsheets® Events Products: AFM supplies virtually all the major long distances road races and triathlons in the US with printed and/or unprinted Heatsheets® blankets for finish lines, aid stations, and VIP areas. We've been the "go-to" company for branded finish line blankets since 1980, when they were introduced at the New York City Marathon.
Outdoor/Adventure Products: We are a major supplier of wilderness, medical, and survival products for the adventure, outdoor market, which are distributed through a long-term partnership with Adventure Medical Kits (AMK). We manufacture the Heatsheets® and Thermo-Lite® emergency blankets and bivvys in AMK's Emergency Essentials product line, available at outdoor giants such as REI, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Any Mountain, Sport's Chalet, and Ramsey Outdoor.
In 2009 the company introduced Silver Lining™ at the Summer Outdoor Retailer show. Silver Lining™ is a versatile, lightweight fabric with a number of applications as a primary or integrated component, like mittens/gloves, vests, jackets, headwear, sleeping bags, and bedding.
Custom Work: We manufacture a highly effective, ultra-thin reflective insulating material in film or fabric form. Heatsheets® can be manufactured to different specifications to suit different application. AFM constantly strives to innovate and discover new solutions.
You can learn more about AFMInc from a great article in Spinoff, NASA's annual premier publication, which features successfully commercialized NASA technology. The Spinoff article can be found here. It's really a worthwhile read and interesting story about how we got our start in 1980 and the events surrounding it.
