Cross country skiers stay warm using Certified Space Technology.
February 25, 2009, Petaluma, CA: Stephanie Deigan, President and COO of AFM, announced today that the company recently donated 350 Heatsheets® TF-2™ Warming Blankets to the cross-country skiing participants in the Special Olympics World Games, held in Sun Valley, Idaho. The connection between AFM and the Special Olympics was made by Mary Wittenberg, the President and CEO of New York Road Runners Club.
Betsy Ashton, who served as the Guest Services Commissioner for Cross Country Skiing at the World Winter Games, applauded the contribution: “The warming blankets you donated to the Special Olympic World Winter Games were a great success! They were a godsend to say the least. I can’t thank you enough for being so generous. It was just the best to be able to provide the athletes with extra warmth when they finished and especially when they had to sit and wait to receive their medals and awards.”
“While we don’t have a formal donation policy,” said Deigan, “we try to help out if we are able. When we have excess inventory that meets a specific need, we are pleased to lend a hand. In this particular case, our Heatsheets® TF-2™ warming blankets were just what the Special Olympic World Games organizers needed.”
