It has become even more crucial to have life-saving information at our fingertips; whether you’re establishing a family emergency plan or you’re a first responder empowering community members to be prepared, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) app was designed with you in mind. The organization, known for building, sustaining and improving ways to prepare and recover from all types of hazards, recently launched a preparedness feature to their app and it’s user-friendly and available on Apple, Android and Blackberry mobile devices.
Features like getting safety reminders and having access to tips on how to survive natural disasters and a customizable emergency checklist, make this app a great tool for safety preparedness. The app also provides users with a list of open shelters and disaster recovery centers as well as driving directions to help them get there. With the ability to upload and share disaster photos, the app has helped those in emergency situations notify first responders of their location. All features within the app are available in English and Spanish.
When planning for emergencies or helping others prepare for them, don’t forget to include the Heatsheets emergency blanket in your safety plans. It’s durable and can be utilized as an emergency sleeping bag and a blanket to protect users from inclement weather conditions. The blankets can be used silver side in for cold weather, reflecting up to 90% of the user’s body heat back to them, or silver side out in warm weather, deflecting heat away from the user to allow the body to stay cool.
